Self-Sufficient Energy Production at Casa Pueblo

Dublin Core

Title

Self-Sufficient Energy Production at Casa Pueblo

Subject

Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria

Description

Casa Pueblo creates its own energy through the use of solar power technology. These cabinets house all of the batteries and inverter equipment needed to power Casa Pueblo. The organization did not lose power during or after Hurricane María thanks to its solar infrastructure. Because of this, the organization became a hub for the community in the aftermath of the storm, providing power for charging stations, health equipment, such as dialysis machines and mini refrigerators used to store medicines such as insulin. Casa Pueblo is also engaging the local and island wide community, making strides towards energy independence using renewables.
