Excerpt from the Roots Music Exhibit Timeline:
"Delving further into community work, but also journalism, I became the first artist-in-residence for a new podcast called News Beat. Innovative and different, I wrote and recorded original verses on topics such as the war on drugs, exonerees and compensation, the never ending war in Afghanistan, and much more. News Beat went on to win multiple prestigious awards including the 2018 and 2021 Journalism Podcast of the Year award from the New York Press Club and four 2022 first place awards from the 2022 Society of Professional Journalists / Press Club of Long Island."
