A Medium in the Family

Natalie Saldarriaga came to Raíces Cultural Center through a Public History Internship while she was a student in the History Department at Rutgers University. Within just a few weeks, she began to go above and beyond the initial objectives of her internship, when her work populating the archive with items and metadata inspired her to start to research and discover her own family history. Luckily for Raíces, Natalie decided to stick around and continue her community history work with the organization, crafting her own story and personal family research into her first archive exhibit, creating the first written testimonial in the Testimonials for the Ancestors Collection.
